Dr. Alan Farber is a board-certified periodontist and holistic dental expert at the Farber Center for Periodontics & Dental Implants in Hauppauge, Long Island. He earned his DDS from the University of Texas Dental Branch at San Antonio in 1984 and completed his accredited advanced specialty education in Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1987, where he was elected Class President.
His honors include Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, a New York State Certificate for accomplishing over 2,500 hours of continuing education, status as a Certified Laser Instructor from the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry, and Fellowship in the International Team of Implantology (ITI) in 2024.
Dr. Farber is not only a clinician but a leader who brings dentists together. In 2002 he started the peri-implant message board that grew to over 400 specialists and 28,000 postings — which led him to found the International Association of Dental Specialists (iADS), of which he is President. He is a guest lecturer in periodontics at Stony Brook and director of the Spear Study Club of Long Island.
Married for over 30 years and raising three sons, Dr. Farber enjoys photography, wine collecting, bicycle riding, pickleball, mentoring young dentists, and learning more about whole-body health — alongside the family's two dogs, Betty and Veronica.
